Welcome to the 2022-2023 Application for the Phillips University Legacy Scholarship and Leadership Development Program

The Foundation's Legacy Scholars program offers scholarships and leadership development training to outstanding full-time undergraduate students pursuing a liberal arts education at colleges and universities currently or historically related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).   Scholarship awards, which can be as high as $8,500 per academic year, are based on academic achievement as well as past, present, and potential leadership in their church, community, and academic environments. This year, the application process has moved to an online portal which will be easier and quicker for applicants. Please take note of the information below.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should be planning to attend or already be attending a private college/university that is currently or historically related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  However, the applicant does not have to attend a church related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
  • Scholarships are "merit-based", therefore the applicants should be well-rounded, with evidence provided of academic success, and of leadership roles in the school, faith community, their broader community and beyond.
  • Applicants may apply as incoming first-year students, sophomores, juniors, or seniors.
  • Applicants must be willing to comply with the program requirements as outlined in the 2022-2023 Policies and Criteria that include but are not limited to both completion of an annual Volunteer Leadership Project and attendance at the Annual Leadership Development Conference.
